Hanoi City Walk (ENG) – Buildings & Barbers, a Battle & Burials – FULL
December 31, 2024 @ 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM
THIS WALK IS NOW FULL. PLEASE RSVP FOR THE WAITING LIST THANKS
This walk is held only on the 1st and 15th of the lunar month when we know everywhere we need open will be open.
Today is 1st day of the 12th lunar month
Welcome to a long FVH Hanoi City walk – it lasts minimum 3.5 hours, on average 4 hours but can be as long as 5 hours depending if we linger and stop at cafes on the way. So please regard this as a half day walk. It is not to be rushed, we take our time so we can really explore. We start at a café near Kim Liên Temple/Communal House on Xã Đàn Street and end in Tây Sơn street (not far from the Novotel hotel).
An early 8.30am start, finish about 1pm or may be 2pm !
While planning this walk 4 themes emerged hence its name. We walk through 2 khu tập thể /old condominiums, we discover the origins of Hanoi’s Street barbers, hear the stories of the liberation of the Thăng Long Citadel in 1789 and end where houses are built side by side to an ancient mausoleum area. And this is the only walk going over 3 pedestrian overpass bridges.
Compared to others this walk is a lot longer and more detailed so a lot to take in and a particularly good one for those who have been in Hanoi a long time.
Numbers. ideally 6 people, definately no more than 8 people
RSVP to stella@fvheritage.org
Exact meeting and end points will be in the welcome email for those confirmed on the walk. Please note they are not near each other
